Taking place annually at the UK’s National Exhibition Centre (the NEC) near Birmingham, Advanced Engineering is described by the organisers as “The UK’s must-attend event for advanced manufacturing technology, innovation and supply chain solutions” where the many thousands of visitors will be guaranteed to “come away from their visit with ideas to grow their businesses for the future. See, touch and discover the newest technologies to achieve production efficiencies, reduce time and costs, and get you ahead of your competitors.”

The Connected Manufacturing Zone

Connected Manufacturing 2019Connected Manufacturing is one of the key zones of the Advanced Engineering exhibition and conference.

“Now more than ever,” say the organisers, “industrial production is a key driver for innovation, productivity, growth and job creation. As we embark on this new revolution where disruptive technologies connect information technology and operational technology, Connected Manufacturing will catalyse the business and technology opportunities that exist between innovators, customers and suppliers – including those within IIoT, big data, automation and more …”

PI UK will be present on stand E33 in the Connected Manufacturing zone and our Deputy Chairman, Derek Lane will be presenting a paper in the technical sessions on the subject of PROFINET on IIoT/IND4.0 including an update on TSN and APL (Time Sensitive Networking and Advanced Physical Layer).

Titled PROFINET for IoT, IIoT and Industry 4.0, the presentation is described as "a short journey to explain The Internet of Things, The Industrial Internet of Things, IND4.0, Big Data. How PROFINET is placed as the ideal Industrial Fieldbus to fulfil the above, how its implemented and why you should consider it, future support for TSN and APL. Some of the myths explained."
