The FieldBarrier connects 8 to 12 instruments to the segment with intrinsic safety (Ex ia) for instruments in Zone 0/Div. 1. It provides many remarkable functions that enable easy installation. The FieldBarrier is designed for a very long service life. The superior fault detection system suppresses or alarms typical fieldbus faults. The control system receives diagnostic information enabling intervention through pro-active planning. This ensures high availability of the fieldbus segment and thus the process automation system.

• Advanced Diagnostics at the spur detect installation quality issues for optimum segment availability
• Internal components such as terminator are connected without wiring
• Critical components are designed with redundancy or monitored for degradation
