The PROFIBUS Group is pleased to lend its support to Instrumentation Scotland & Offshore Systems Aberdeen on this its 10th year.

The event will return to the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre on 5th and 6th September 2012.

Located in the heart of the Offshore industry in Aberdeen, the exhibition brings together the many companies who supply products and services specific to the offshore industry in addition to others representing processing, power generation, paper, distilling, water and waste, and marine engineering in north east Scotland.

With the offshore sector employing many contract workers, time is certainly ‘money’ and Instrumentation Scotland and Offshore Systems offers both visitors and exhibitors an excellent way to network in an informal environment, within their own region. Face-to-face discussions and demonstrations allow both visitors and exhibitors the chance to understand each other’s requirements and act on them.

The exhibition will again feature free workshops and presentations hosted by leading organisations such as The PROFIBUS Group. Our workshop will be presented by our Technical Officer, Andy Verwer ably assisted by Steering Committee member Dale Fittes. Starting at 12.30pm on the 6th September, the workshop programme features:

1. Introduction and overview of PROFIBUS and PROFINET.

A brief description of the features and benefits of PROFIBUS and PROFINET industrial networking protocols and their relevance to process automation and control.

2. PROFIBUS diagnostics and network monitoring  (plus practical demo)

This presentation will give a brief overview of PROFIBUS characteristics and the standard and extended diagnostics that are built into the standard and how these can help speed up fault finding and error location.  Recent developments in remote network monitoring will be explored with tools that are built into the network and are accessible over Ethernet.  The presentation will incorporate a live demonstration of a modern tool and how these operate to provide 24/7 network health checking and pre warning of performance degradation.

3. PROFIBUS/PROFINET system design

Many of the basic errors that are made on fieldbus installations are made at the design stage.  This presentation covers the key points that must be addressed to ensure the most cost effective solution over tha life time of the plant. The presentation also describes a new system design course that is to be accredited by PROFIBUS International.

Further details of the event are available on the show website at www.instrumentation.co.uk.

The event is free to enter and includes free parking and free lunch. Visitor pre-registration will go live from June but if you would like to be kept up to date on the exhibition and receive tickets please email your details to info@trident-exhibitions.co.uk
